Hey, PSA for my fellow disabled people: UPS workers are trying to negotiate a new contract, and it looks like it’s leading to a strike soon. Now, I am absolutely all for this, they need safe working conditions and should strike if need be, but for us?

Please contact your doctors and make sure you’re prepared in any way possible. This will affect many of you, whether that’s through med deliveries, oxygen tanks, or other one-use supplies. If you live in America, try to get in contact with an insurance case worker for resources and advice if you’re able.

Stay safe, and hope that the precaution isn’t necessary.

One of my meds has to be delivered overnight UPS premiere gold refrigerated… time to call up the company and get this sorted.

I fully support the strike, because I’ve been following the development and the conditions they work under are truly egregious (I don’t know why OSHA hasn’t cracked down honestly), but I’ve also literally seen the drivers about to collapse in the heat. But it makes me furious how fragile our medical supply system is that one strike like this could literally be putting so many people in grave danger. That’s on the medical supply and shipping companies, not the UPS workers OR the medical providers.

They find lesbian attraction and desire disgusting and predatory. The only thing they view us as is a convenient scapegoat. Here’s a video that actually goes into about 50 years of this history by @luciferfemme. To TERFs, cis lesbians are only one step above trans women, and will be ousted as soon as their rhetoric takes predominance in popular culture.

I remember back on Livejournal around 2005-2011 there were TERFs in the feminist communities getting banned every other month for verbally abusing lesbians, saying we’re ‘mimicing heterosexual men’ for desiring women romantically and sexually. Some of them even went as far as demanding that we preface every post or comment with the fact that we’re 'female attracted’ so they know to be careful around us.

REAL lesbians, they said, valued sisterhood and purity, and if any affection was expressed between two women it was to be chaste kisses only, or, at best, viewing another woman as a convenient way to wank one off (but only if you’re not *actually* attracted to her). They also LOVED to talk about how HARD it was for them to abstain from men because women are just “wired” that way, and there must be something wrong with a woman who in fact experiences 0 male attraction whatsoever. TERFs do not view lesbians as real women.

They tended to fetishize trans men because to them it allowed them to satisfy their desire for men without “cheating”, while at the same time abusing them. They hated butches because butches tickled their fancy in their masculinity but refused to be be their perfect “female man” fantasy.

Basically the only use they had for trans men was as a convenient talking point as gender traitors (and as sex toys), and the only use they have for cis, feminine-presenting lesbians is scapegoating.

I’m still not entirely sure where they largely stand on butches. They seem to pingpong from “butches are predatory male-impersonators who prey on women” to “butches are all being abused by the TRAs to be trans men and that’s a tragedy, wah wah we’re losing lesbians”. Of course neither of these things makes *any* sense whatsoever.

Like, this isn’t a joke, “political lesbians” aren’t some ancient history. I was an early teenager in the 2005-2011 era and they were there. I saw them.

So this whole twisting the term 'political lesbian’ to mean 'any lesbian with political beliefs I disagree with, up to and including calling out lesbophobia and bi erasure’ is ridiculous and ONLY HELPING THE TERFS.

companies really have got to be okay with stagnant profits. what is wrong with earning the same amount every year? why does it always have to be more? it’s not sustainable. there are only so many people on the planet you can profit from 😭

This is the thing. If there are only so many people they can profit from, and they demand to see profits go up every year, they will have to steal more out of the pockets of the little people each year, either by paying less, or by charging more. And that is the problem. Because that is exactly what is happening. And the rich get richer. And the poor are getting so poor that it is coming to a crisis point. They seem to have forgotten what happens at the crisis point though: people who have nothing to lose, will rise up and fight.

In a statement to The Post, a spokesperson for NBCUniversal claimed the tree work is simply an annual ritual at this time of year. “We understand that the safety tree trimming of the Ficus trees we did on Barham Blvd. has created unintended challenges for demonstrators, that was not our intention. In partnership with licensed arborists, we have pruned these trees annually at this time of year to ensure that the canopies are light ahead of the high wind season,” they wrote. “We support the WGA and SAG’s right to demonstrate and are working to provide some shade coverage. We continue to openly communicate with the labor leaders on-site to work together during this time.”

If those trees were pollarded annually, the cut areas would NOT look like that. There would be big knobs of old growth at the trimming sites. Not seeing any of that here. The way those trees were topped (not pollarded, which is a very careful process that has to begin when the tree is immature) is excellent way to kill them due to loss of hydration, open sites to infection and parasitism during the best time of year for both, lack of nutrition due to so little greenery and new budding growth being left, sunburn and other exposure damage, and a myriad of other possibilities. Plus, if they were topped annually, they would not have the lovely drooping branches seen in the other picture but would have tons of vertical suckers instead.

If this was done by the city, the public works arborists should be protesting in front of city hall and screaming their heads off right now. I’m not hearing about that, so… Tree law!

He mentions later in the thread that not only do they not trim the trees annually, they’re trimmed at best once every 18 years. Supposed to be every five, and only in dormancy, which even my layman’s ass knows about tree trimming.

And yes, Universal can probably eat the fine. But it’s gonna be a whopper even if the trees survive (which is as mentioned kinda unlikely), California is a triple damage state for tree law, and it may increase dramatically if there were nesting birds in the trees.

All this to be a Captain Planet filler villain to some writers. And yes, it’s currently just the writers officially picketing there; SAG-AFTRA recommended against it for petty bullshit like this and the suddenly necessary sidewalk construction.

so I started rereading GtN (as one does) and was struck by this passage where from the very beginning of the book, Gideon positions herself as more important to Harrow than the Locked Tomb:

and I think that is really, like, when Gideon truly starts her sort of… backslide wrt her perception of her relationship with Harrow – like, at this point in the story in the pool, she’s already well along in her corruption arc into the “Perfect Cavalier”. BUT like, we know from being inside Harrow’s head that Harrow would break herself and her duty in order to hold onto Gideon. she would & she did!!!! which is!!! something that Gideon KNOWS at the beginning of GtN but then forgets/is convinced out of, entierly unintentionally, but to the point where by the time she comes back in HtN she has a totally reversed perception of how Harrow feels. leading to, of course, this:
